Most IT projects cause at least some amount of worrying and uncertainty. And rightfully so. The stakes involved are enormous—millions of dollars in project spending, countless man hours of work, reputations, careers, plus the potential for company downtime and lost revenue. It’s no wonder IT implementations and integrations bring jitters to even the most seasoned veterans.

Instead of worrying about the potential pitfalls and snags of your latest integration or implementation, why not apply advanced thinking to defend against them in the first place? Instead of ultimately risking the success of your project, why not plan ahead and then manage that plan from project inception to completion?

Lighthouse Computer Services believes in providing expert project management for all of our projects, no matter the size. Our PMI-certified project managers help create structured project plans and project tracking mechanisms to ensure success each step of the way. When unexpected problems do arise, project managers step in to sort out the issues, facilitate communication between all parties, resolve the problems, and keep the project on track, on time and in budget.

In addition to their certifications, Lighthouse’s project managers have completed literally hundreds of IT implementations, integrations and multi-vendor projects, often involving the coordination of multiple teams at numerous customer locations. Each IT project has its own unique set of complexities, and it takes an experienced IT project manager to successfully shepherd a large project from start to finish. Lighthouse Project Management Overview
Lighthouse’s customers require the best solutions, products and services, not to mention the greatest efficiency putting them into place. To meet these strict demands, Lighthouse assigns certified project managers to nearly every project, no matter the size.

All projects benefit from the application of project management. Lighthouse project managers employ a methodology adopted from their studies through the Project Management Institute (PMI), one with the flexibility to adapt to projects of varying sizes and complexity. Using the PMI framework, Lighthouse project managers can manage a project as small as a single server installation, or as large as a multivendor, multi-location installation of servers, storage, switches and tape to support a disaster recovery effort.

The upshot? Successful project completion under tight deadlines that would otherwise be unattainable with internal staff alone—all within budget.

Benefits of Project Management
In addition to the clear vision of schedules and deliverables associated with projects, Lighthouse project managers understand the importance of the people and processes involved. By managing multiple vendors and groups—internal and external to your organization—our project managers work to represent your best interests, all while keeping the project on track and within budget.

Working within an integrated framework for project organization, planning and control, Lighthouse project managers:

  • Manage your total end-to-end solution, working with you from inception to final signoff and acceptance.
  • Facilitate communication between all stakeholders within your organization, vendors and Lighthouse.
  • Lighten the workload on your internal resources and allow them to focus on other tasks.
  • Leverage Lighthouse’s strategic alliances with key vendors, allowing us to provide immediate technical support when needed.

Project Phases

Lighthouse’s project managers ensure project success each step of the way, while facilitating communication between all project stakeholders.
Our project managers ensure that all Lighthouse projects have three clearly defined phases, each with its own goals, objectives and quality assurance checkpoints. The phases are as follows:
  • Project Planning
  • Project Execution and Control
  • Project Closure

During the Project Planning phase, the project manager meets with all project stakeholders to document the customer’s requirements, and develop intentions and objectives around a given project. Once these ideas are solidified, the project manager converts them into formal project plans with set schedules, resource allocations, and milestones.

The Project Execution phase requires the project manager to ensure that all procedures and resources required to carry out and control project work are scheduled, completed, monitored and communicated. If necessary, the project manager will be the main point of contact for any problems or issues, and will work with all stakeholders until the issues are resolved.

In order to ensure that all deliverables have been completed to the customer’s satisfaction, the project manager oversees the Project Closure phase. In addition, the project manager will meet with all project stakeholders to discuss future initiatives, or provide assistance with supplemental work related to the closing project.
